Hey there, AI enthusiast! We're taking a closer look at a feature that, although not brand new, has an exceptional capability that can reshape how you use AI tools: ChatGPT Advanced Data Analysis. And, if you stick with us till the end, we'll show you how you can analyse e.g. sales data super easily with ChatGPT. Let’s get started! ✨
If you've ever thought ChatGPT was just a conversation partner, think again. While it's true that ChatGPT is primarily known for generating text, images, or code snippets, what sets the Advanced Data Analysis feature apart is its ability to actually run the code it crafts and handle data. Essentially, we're giving this chatbot superpowers. (Well, super-geek powers, at least!)
Beyond Just Chatting
ChatGPT Advanced Data Analysis has the nifty capability of taking file uploads. This means you're no longer limited to text interactions; you can now send over a bunch of files and let the tool analyze, visualize, and even alter them.
File Compatibility
Whether it's that dense PDF report from last quarter, a funky .csv file with survey data, or even programming source files, ChatGPT can handle a multitude of formats. This includes standard office documents, images, audio, video, and coding files.
Outputs Galore
This isn’t just a one-trick pony. Whether you want a summarized analysis, a sleek table, or even a captivating chart, ChatGPT's Advanced Data Analysis has got you covered. And, if you'd like, it can also make edits directly to your uploaded file, making your work super streamlined.
Who Can Jump In?
Currently, this feature is exclusive to ChatGPT Plus users, at $20/month, and ChatGPT Enterprise users. Any takers? 😉
Okay, let’s see how it works. We could of course use many different examples, but let’s just see first a super obvious example: Using it to do a simple sales data analysis.
To make an analysis, we first need some data. I have just made up some dummy sales data in a CSV file looking like this - it could also just be a table or e.g. some data in an Excel Sheet. The data contains multiple columns, but among them are the country of the customer and how much we have sold to each customer.
You can download the dummy data for yourself here, if you want to try the example.
To start the analysis, all we have to do is to upload the file to ChatGPT. Make sure you are in “Advanced Data Analysis” mode in ChatGPT Plus/Enterprise.
And then we can ask whatever questions related to the data. Of course we could give it more advanced tasks, but here we could for example just ask: “Which Country have we sold most to?”.
And then ChatGTP starts to crunch the data. What happens behind the scenes here, is that ChatGPT writes a piece of code to perform the data analysis, and then is able to execute the code. In that way, it can quickly answer the question. And if we wanted, we could then also ask it to either illustrate the result graphically or to input the result back into the source file.
Cool, right?
From Business Intelligence to education, ChatGPT's Advanced Data Analysis can be a nifty tool in many fields. But we're curious! How do you plan to use this tool? Thank you for diving into this AI-powered journey with us. At Applai, we're always excited to see the innovative ways our community uses these tools.
